The dark day of John Lennon's death
Imagine: It’s been four decades since John Lennon’s death.
The ex-Beatle was walking home around 10:50 p.m. on the night of Dec. 8, 1980, with his wife Yoko Ono, after a recording session at Record Plant Studio, when was he was shot in the archway of his New York City residence, the Dakota, by deranged fan Mark David Chapman.
Earlier in the night, Chapman had met Lennon, who signed his copy of the album Double Fantasy, released about three weeks prior, around the same spot.
Unbelievably, Lennon, who was 40 when he was killed, has now been gone for as long as he lived.
Almost everyone remembers where they were when they heard the shocking news that Liverpool-born Lennon had been murdered by Chapman who waited for police to arrive and arrest him while reading a copy of The Catcher in the Rye.
Nevertheless, Happy Christmas ♥️
